Compare cash flow and balance-sheet context alongside growth, rather than relying on one headline number.

The next test

AMD has announced its third-quarter report for November 3. As of this November 3 pre-results review, those results are not yet reported. Its earlier third-quarter revenue outlook was approximately $13.0 billion, plus or minus $0.3 billion. Reported Data Center growth, operating cash flow, company-defined free cash flow, share count and updated guidance will determine whether that earlier outlook held. Broadcom guided to approximately $34.8 billion of fiscal fourth-quarter revenue and expected $21.7 billion of AI semiconductor revenue; both are company forecasts, not results.

What the gap is pricing

AMD had the stronger May 4–November 2 share-price return, while Broadcom's latest reported quarter generated more AI semiconductor revenue and operating cash. Different fiscal periods, business scopes, adjustments and capital structures prevent a simple winner.
