GE Aerospace's latest earnings report and its stock chart tell different stories. Demand improved in the September quarter, while the completed October 20 share-price session finished below the main moving averages. A stronger business update can coexist with a weak price trend; neither observation cancels the other.
The operating story
In its October 20 release for the quarter ended September 30, GE reported orders of $19.0 billion, up 49%. Revenue was $14.1 billion under GAAP and $13.3 billion on the company's adjusted basis. Continuing GAAP EPS was $2.32; adjusted EPS was $2.25, up 36%.
The cash check matters. GAAP cash from continuing operating activities was $2.2 billion and company-defined free cash flow was $2.0 billion, both down 14% year over year. Adjusted earnings growth therefore did not translate into better quarterly cash generation. Those cash measures have different definitions and should not be treated as interchangeable.
What the completed chart says
The newly corroborated October 20 close was $299.87, down 3.67% from October 19. That was below the 20-session average of $311.52, the 50-session average of $327.93 and the 200-session average of $323.74. These averages use completed closes only. They do not include an October 21 intraday observation.
October 20's $307.36 high and October 19's $310.64 low define a down-gap interval in the completed daily record. It remained untraded within that record through October 20. That is a dated statement, not a claim that the interval remains open during today's session.
A move back into that interval would be an initial recovery test. The daily-reclaim test here requires a subsequent daily retest and a close above the relevant level. An intraday touch would not establish that condition. The October 20 low of $294.22 is the nearby dated downside reference; a later close below it would weaken a recovery attempt.
Keep the larger decline visible
The highest closing price in the frozen October 2024–October 2026 history was $381.22 on August 5, 2026. The October 20 close was 21.34% below it and was the subsequent closing low in that sample. There was no completed closing rebound from that low yet. The separate intraday high-to-low decline was larger; it must not be substituted for the closing-price calculation.
The research question is whether operating strength can improve cash generation while price rebuilds a daily base. This review establishes neither a cheap valuation nor a completed reversal. It is market research, not a recommendation to buy or sell.
